I tried my hand at doing an October drawing challenge this year - specifically ‘Linktober’, a prompt list based on The Legend of Zelda games. I started off pretty strong the first week…! Then fell off. That’s all I managed. Oh well! Next time, maybe. Here they are, not posted anywhere yet, though I never did quite finish them off…
I went for a 'modern fashion' theme which worked great for the first few prompts, but when the prompts didn't spark inspiration (mostly because they didn't quite fit into my own theme!) my motivation fizzed out! My fault completely - I should have stayed with the one challenge! But I really like how some pieces came out! They each served as gesture practice too, since I would start out by sketching 2-3 poses that I then chose for my final.

Enjoyed painting another @stillustrations.club promp in my sketchbook. The bright blue tablecloth really brought it all together.
Croft Castle
We visited Croft Castle again, and I took the opportunity to fill out the pages of my own copy of ‘Draw Outside’. Last time we visited this castle, I challenged myself to fill an entire A6 sketchbook with drawings inspired from the day, so I was a little sick of the place back then! The feeling had thankfully subsided by the time of our second visit and I was able to find new things to draw.
Magic Print Fair
I sold at Magic Print Fair mostly as From the Witch’s Scullery, with a few letsgetarty products sprinkled in. It was a lovely venue with lovely people! We had a great day. Thank you to those who stopped by!
The Boat House Gallery

My sketchbooks are now in a shop! The Boat House Gallery in Monmouth is stocking a few of my ‘Colourful Quilt’ sketchbooks, and I’m currently making more things for them to stock too! If you’re in the Monmouthshire area, be sure to check out their wonderful shops, full of amazing art and crafts from local artists!
More sketching in ‘Draw Outside’
While dropping off my sketchbooks to The Boat House I spent some time drawing the Monnow bridge and checking out an old church. There were also loads of ducks and swans on the river, so made sure to take photos so that I could have fun scribbling them down at home.
The future…
I have made the decision to pause going to markets for a little while. I feel I need to focus on bigger projects now, and I find I can’t get in the right headspace when I know I have a market that I have to prep for looming. I want to focus on starting my witchy graphic novel idea, which I mentioned a few blogs ago, and also focus on a games design project (can't show what I do for that at the moment unfortunately!).
Upcoming
Having said that! I did agree to join Worcester’s very own Artist Alley being held in collaboration with Speak Volumes Festival, so that is the only market I will be doing, on the 6th December in Huntingdon Hall, in the centre of town. It should be fun!
If you’ve read this all the way through, consider supporting me and my work by going over to my Etsy shop and having a browse if you like zines, stickers and prints mostly based around nature and travelling. You will also find my pet portrait commissions there! letsgetartyshop.etsy.com <3
